The new buzzword in our industry has become “Green Marketing”. It’s become so prominent it has even earned its own page on Wikipedia.

In a nutshell, it’s the movement towards marketing environmentally safe products and practises. More than one of our clients have been putting the environment first, including Vanguard Plastics and Arbutus Grove Nurseries, and the list is quickly growing.

If you aren’t already thinking about green marketing, perhaps it’s time to take a closer look at this growing trend. It’s a great long-term strategy, not just for your marketing, but for the environment as well.

Going Green
Engarde! Cha-ching!

:LEFT: Mike and Dave have been flexing a little muscle lately, using Mike’s new backyard for some good old fashioned manual labour. We’re not sure what Dave did wrong to get roped into digging out stumps and fence posts, but we’re pretty sure Mike led Dave to believe it would be great fun to come over and toil in the dirt with him. They still seem to be speaking, so the male bonding thing must be good for them. The rest of us will wait for the invite to a backyard BBQ.

:RIGHT: Canucks fans everywhere are mourning the end of their season. It also signalled the end of many hockey pools, including ours. Mike, our resident hockey player and sports fan extraordinaire, sad to say, did not win the pool. Dark horse Dave, who picked his team based on who lived in the coldest climate, came in second. Sherry beat out the bunch with her brilliant strategic tactics and superb knowledge of hockey (which means her husband made her picks). Sorry about your luck Mike, next year maybe you should try Dave’s strategy.

:RECOMMENDED READING: Recently read around our office, Good to Great by Jim Collins is an excellent book on how to make your company a long-term success. A little redundant in some places, it still provided great insight into the thought processes used by companies who defied odds to excel within their industry. You can find the book here.

:PHOTO FRENZY: Why spend money on great marketing if your images aren’t able to showcase your company and product? Most times a custom photo shoot is the best way to go, especially if you want unique product shots or specific locations. It’s not as expensive as you may think, and good photography goes a long way, useable for many years in your brochures, newsletters, trade show materials and websites.
